A Message From Our Founder
Imagine a world where every woman feels confident, free, and ready to take on any adventure that comes her way. This is the vision that drove Bianca (founder and Creative Director) to create Salt Sista. Bianca was inspired by the beauty of the ocean and the sense of freedom that comes along with surfing and travel. She wanted to create swimwear that not only embraced sustainability but also empowered women to feel unstoppable.
How it all started...
"I grew up feeling all the crazy pressures that come along with being a women, I always felt conscious of my body, but thankfully in my late 20's that I found surfing. How did this help you might ask? Well, to begin with, it got me moving like never before. I was always an active person however, being in the ocean for hours at a time on a daily basis really helps keep the heart rate up. I was head over heels in love with my new found hobby.
I quickly realised that even though I was feeling fitter and stronger I still didn't love the bikinis the market had to offer. I was in gym shorts and rashies to begin with, this was not a super cute look for a 'wanna be surfer'. Nothing I tried was holding me in properly. I really needed something that was going to just stay put.
This is where it all began, 3 years into my surfing journey I started on a mission, a mission to create swimwear that would hold me comfortably so I could focus on this new love of mine. I wanted it to be cute, practical, and most of all comfortable. I wanted to challenge the status quo and redefine what it means to feel confident in your own skin. Our swimwear is designed to make you feel like a warrior, ready to conquer the waves and embrace the unknown.
Throughout the journey of finding a manufacturer and designing the pieces I was so terrified. Am I really doing this? I was scared to start something new and throw everything I had at it, but I was also excited. Inspired by a love for surfing, I wanted to bring this vision of mine to life and share it with other women too, women who loved travel and adventure or maybe even women who just wanted to feel more supported in their swimwear.
You don't have to surf or travel to be part of the Salt Sista community. I want Salt Sista to extend to women of all ages and backgrounds. I want women to feel like they don't have to worry so much about "what they look like" but more focus on how much fun they should be having.
It's only been 4 months since we launched in October 2024 and I am already connecting with to most amazing women from all over. I recently had a beautiful women order who was in her 70's, this made my heart so happy, the fact that Salt Sista can be worn by women of all ages is exactly what I wanted! What a dream come true.
Whether you're a young women, a surfer, a nomad traveller, maybe you just like comfy stuff, Salt Sista is truly meant for everyone! My hope is that this beautiful community of women will continue to grow and Salt Sista will grow with it.
